Scott Kinnison has been a professional drummer for more than two decades, and a sought-after percussion teacher for over 10 years.
A skilled performer and master of various genres, Scott has had the great fortune to play with Jazz legends like Clark Terry, Milt Jackson and Al Grey. He’s been named as a finalist in the International Blues Challenge, a head-to-head juried competition of the world’s best unsigned blues acts; performed regularly for professional music theatres including Maine State Music Theatre and Fort Meyer’s Repertory Theatre in Florida; toured the East Coast with rock bands such as Moonboot Lover, Groovechild, Vitamin C, Fly Spinach Fly, Shagg, Neather, and The Kristin Mueller Trio, playing regularly to sold out crowds in some of the biggest East Coast venues. Scott is also an experienced studio player who has worked in studios such as Big Sound and Dizzyland.
In addition to being a seasoned performer, Scott also teaches private lessons to students of all ages, and is an active educator at secondary schools across New England where he delivers clinics, workshops, group lessons, and ensemble instruction. Scott is an energetic, passionate instructor who uses creative learning techniques to successfully teach students of all ages. He has helped train children from grade school band up through college. Some of Scott’s former and current students are attending schools such as Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA), Musicians Institute of Technology (Los Angeles, CA), University of Massachusetts at Amherst, University of Massachusetts at Lowell, University of New Hampshire, Keene State College and Plymouth State College. Scott has also worked with countless adult students, ranging from weekend warrior garage band musicians to fellow educators and professional musicians looking to take their craft to the next level.
Scott is a versatile freelance performer, available for both live and studio settings. He is a member of the Vic Firth Education Team headed by Neil Larrivee, Dom Famularo and Mark Wessels; and the Hudson Music Integration Program, an interactive, global group comprised of the world’s leading educators.
